Free product. Free service. Redeeming free product.
Thirdshelf gives you the ability to create rewards to be given out through a loyalty program or trough our automated marketing campaigns. There rewards or offers can be one of 4 types:
- Dollar Discount
- Percent Discount
- Free Product
- Free Service
Today we will be focusing on the last two, since the first two will automatically apply the respective discount when you click on the redeem button. For free products and free services only a $0 item is applied to the sale to track the redemption. We have two workflow options that can help with the process:
Lightspeed and Vend
- Redeem the free item/service offer > Ring up the real product > Change the price of the real product to $0 > Complete transaction
- Redeem the free item/service offer > Scan the real poduct > Change the price off the free item/service offer to negative the value of the real product (To save time you can change the price of these items in your inventory to already be negative the price of the bag they would redeem) > Complete transaction
For Springboard users, the same methods apply except with method 2 where instead of changing the price to negative the value, you would change it to the same price as the real item and change the quantity to -1.
